FAQ
Whether you are new to therapy or you've done self-exploration before, seeking therapy with a new provider can be scary and intimidating. Understanding what therapy is, knowing the ways it can help you, and feeling comfortable in the therapy space all supports your internal development. Check out the questions below, and feel free to email me at cpctherapy@outlook.com if you have any further questions!
-
How can therapy help me?Evidence based practices have shown therapy to be effective in almost 75% of people who seek psychotherapeutic services. Benefits of therapy include identifying and creating healthy coping skills, learning effective communication, building stronger relationships, and making changes to negative thought patterns. Symptoms from diagnoses like depression, anxiety, trauma, OCD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and others are known statistically to reduce after engaging in therapy services.
-
Will you give me advice? While therapy is meant to be inquisitive, there might be times where you ask me directly for advice. I will never tell you what to do with your life, but will offer space and conversation to discuss the pros and cons of choices, as well as provide thoughtful reflection towards impact of the choice you are considering.
-
Will you prescribe medication? No. I am not a medical doctor, therefore I can not prescribe medication. I can help monitor for any side effects, provide psychoeducation on medication options and refer you to a psychiatrist if we feel medication interventions are needed. Medication is not necessary for all! It can often be a tool to help support while we build skills and work on distress tolerance.
-
What is therapy like?Therapy can be experienced in different ways for different people. I want therapy to be what you need it to be, whether it be a venting session paired with identifying skills to support in difficult situations, exploring childhood trauma that is impacting current life, or dealing with symptom management and exploring additional supports outside of the therapy space. Therapy doesn't have to look one way for everyone - it can be what you need when you need it.
-
What is different about virtual therapy?Virtual therapy is meant to provide a greater realm of accessibility to you, the client, and can support in making therapy easier to get to with busy schedules. Virtual services still meet the standard HIPPA expectations and can provide you with the opportunity to have therapy at any point in the day (without having to leave home or the office!)

How do I schedule a session? You can schedule a session located in the "services" box located on this website. You can also reach out to me via email at cpctherapy@outlook.com OR you can call/text my business line at 31-246-0356.

How do I pay?I am not in network with insurance providers, therefore I charge a base-line session fee of $85 per therapy hour. You can pay me through online platforms such as Zelle, Venmo, or Cash-App. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider at the end of each month to allow for some financial reimbursement (insurance plan pending) to support in financial costs. To note: previous sessions must be paid in full before current session can occur unless previously discussed or different payment plan has been established.
-
What if I have to cancel? (Cancellation Policy)I do require a 48 hour cancellation notice prior to any session, otherwise a $40 missed session fee will be charged. If you are able to reschedule after the 48 hours has expired for the same week (pending available session times) there will be no missed session fee charged and you will pay the expected $85 hourly after our session.
